Masdar Cities in Germany? Can that be a vision? In a land that has become lazy and where visions often shatter on political guidelines? What is Roland Bergers opinion on the comparison between Abu Dhabi and Germany? He contemplates briefly and says: "Here, in the Emirates, you have the opportunity and the need to build up everything from scratch, so why not build a new city? What makes me sad, however, is that we Germans have not come up with the idea to build these kinds of cities in the different developing regions of the world, in Africa or Latin America for instance. We would have been able to build these cities, with German expertise and German investment money. I consider this a failure. And we could even restructure one of our own cities to a "green" and energy efficient model city over a period of just three to five years."One can only hope that the green technology does not end like the computer or the fax machine - invented in Germany, but exploited in the U.S. or Japan. Germany is still competing in the run on the big green business. But for how long?
